TEACH is governed by a Board of Directors that meets up to 4 times per year across Jamaica. The teaching team which consists of local and foreign teachers (including Rhodes Scholars) operate full-time during the summer months, and are managed by the Executive Director. Friends in USA and Canada who are passionate about our cause volunteer to plan and execute fundraising events for TEACH.
Meet the Board:
Mariame McIntosh Robinson (Board Chair), as founder of TEACH Caribbean, was responsible for developing the concept, securing seed financing and hiring a team in Jamaica to execute the 3 year pilot. In her current role as Board Chair, she is primarily responsible for fundraising with a focus on Foundations and the Diaspora living in the United States of America. Mariame is currently the President & CEO of First Global Bank, a commercial bank in Jamaica. Prior to joining FGB, Mariame was a Partner at Portland Private Equity, an institutional mid-market private equity fund focused on the Caribbean. Mariame obtained an MBA from Harvard Business School, M. Phil in Economics from Oxford University, and BSc. in Electrical Engineering from MIT. She is the Jamaica Rhodes Scholar for 1998.
Wynette Miller-Terrelonge (Executive Director) is the Executive Director for TEACH Caribbean as well as a member of the Board, and she resides in Manchester, Jamaica. In her role, she is responsible for Operations which primarily consists of summer programme management and financial and metrics reporting. Wynette was the Chief Financial Officer for WINDALCO (formerly known as Alcan Jamaica Co.). She brings decades of experience in management and finance to TEACH. Wynette is a graduate of Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Peter Goldson (Board member) is a member of the founding team for TEACH Caribbean. As a member of the Board, Peter oversees the disbursement and intake of all funds for the organization. Peter is currently the Managing Partner at Myers, Fletcher and Gordon, a leading international law firm, in their Kingston office, where he focuses on corporate commercial law. Peter attended University of the West Indies and Norman Manley Law School where he graduated with first class honors. Peter is the Jamaica Rhodes Scholar for 1985. He is also currently the Secretary for the Rhodes Selection Process for Jamaica & the Caribbean where he is responsible for overseeing the selection process for Jamaican and Caribbean Rhodes Scholars as well as the Rex Nettleford Scholarship awarded to a qualified Caribbean student in cultural studies.
Dr. Renee Rattray (Board Advisor) is an Education Consultant and the CEO of TEACHGood | LEADGood, an regional educational advisory firm. Prior to this, she was a senior leader at the Jamaica National Group for 10 years, in various roles including Head of Learning and Development, and Director of Education Programmes. She spearheaded the JN Foundation’s iLead programme, a distinct private - public partnership targeted at developing leadership in Jamaican schools cited as most in need by the National Education Inspectorate (NEI). She was also a former School Principal and licensed School Inspector at NEI. Dr. Rattray sits on a number of public and private sector boards and lives in Kingston, Jamaica.
