Are you interested in joining an innovative organization to teach Math or English to rising 2nd formers who attend high schools in rural Jamaica this summer?

Are you skilled at delivering lessons in an innovative way with a class size not to exceed 15 students?

If yes to both, apply to join the TEACH Caribbean team for its summer programme that will run in July 2024. Teaching hours will be from Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 2pm.

RHODES SCHOLARS-

TEACH Caribbean recruits Rhodes Scholars to join its teaching team for the summer, given their strong history. If you are interested in:

  • Having an impact on the education sector of an emerging market, particularly as education inequality widens due to the pandemic

  • Shaping the the outcome of an innovative program targeting young high school students in rural Jamaica

  • Experiencing Jamaican culture through student and fellow teacher interactions and relationships

Applicants should apply for one or both of the subject areas: Mathematics, English Language.  

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and comfort delivering content online

  • Interest in emerging market issues such as education development

  • Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision

  • Experience in teaching and/or working with children (a plus)

Rhodes Scholar teachers will be trained on teaching methods, syllabi and Jamaican culture prior to start of Programme. We will be accepting applications from Rhodes Scholars to be a summer teacher in 2024 in a few months.

 

SUMMER TEACHER ROLE - Key responsibilities include:

  • Teach junior high classes of up to 15 students 5 days per week from 8:30am-2pm. Each class will last ~60 minutes.

  • Finalize creative teaching methods for each class given the syllabus

  • Monitor and communicate students progress as well prepare final report.

  • Serve as mentor to students and share international perspective where applicable.
